My engine started making a loud clunking noise in Clarksville and was lucky enough to be right here to drop it at this shop. It was the weekend and options were limited. I was passing through driving across the country with my wife and dogs going to visit our family. My guess was a timing chain tensioner went out and after a $118 diagnostic fee they agreed with this issue. Of course when you’re in these situations you really hope people do the right thing. I was quoted $4,300 out the door for parts and labor. The Nissan dealership down the road quoted me $3,100 out the door. This job actually cost me $1000 last year back home for a new timing chain kit and water pump replacement. I was quoted $1500-1700 for the same job from a fella down the street who was much more straight forward about the issue and is working to find the root cause issue. I want to share this experience for anyone who may be in a similar situation. Be careful with who you select cause it truly could cost you. I’m sure they do great work but it’s absolute garbage they will gouge you when options are limited. Be better.
Hey Jared - Glad to hear you were able to get your car fixed. Hopefully they warranty their work for 3yr/36,000 miles Nation Wide, as we do. As our guys explained to you, and you can also see in our notes on your invoice where it was suggested that we would start with R&I (remove and inspect) to determine what was needed. If it was just the tensioner you would not have been charged for anything more. It's disingenuous on your part to suggest otherwise. We go out of our way to explain all options. Hope you, your wife, and pup made it home safely. Have a great rest of your week! Tucker - Owner
